Understanding the course structure

What belongs to the programme, and what belongs to the offering?

Clarify shared definitions, local delivery and the connections between course administration and learning.

What is the difference between a programme and an offering?

The programme is the shared catalogue record. An offering is a campus-specific delivery of that programme, with its own code, name, capacity, default fee and status.

Can the same programme run at several campuses?

Yes. Create separate campus offerings under the same programme, then manage their local teaching responsibilities and student enrolments.

Does each offering have its own learning page?

Yes. The course offering connects to its learning page and its assignments and quizzes, with access determined by the user’s current role and course relationship.

What happens when a course is no longer offered?

Used offerings can be made inactive while their connected records are retained. The system checks for existing teaching, enrolment, schedule and learning records before allowing deletion of an unused offering.
