School registration
& report attendance

Every school day accounted for. Every summary explained.

Start with a clear record of the school day. Take daily or morning and afternoon registration, follow the pupils who need attention and carry a checked attendance summary into reporting.

A dependable routine for the start of the day

The right cohort.
The right school session.

Use the school calendar

Set daily or AM/PM registration against the cohort, school weekdays, closures, extra dates and timezone.

Keep each mark clear

Record present, late, authorised absence, unauthorised absence or excused, with unmarked pupils still visible.

Check the reporting basis

Choose school registration, scheduled lesson attendance or omission for the reporting cycle, then review completeness.

A useful summary starts with a complete register

See the percentage.
Check what sits behind it.

Review the attendance calculation for each pupil in the reporting period, including expected sessions and the records still needing attention. The selected basis gives the figure its meaning.

  • Review present, late, absence and excused counts.
  • Find unmarked pupils and expected registers that are missing.
  • Keep private operational notes outside the report summary.

Two useful views of attendance

A school day.
A scheduled lesson.

Give each attendance record the context it needs before choosing which basis belongs in the academic report.

For your team

A clearer record
from registration to reporting.

School & branch administrators

Keep the calendar dependable.

Configure the cohort’s registration pattern and review the school sessions in your permitted campus scope.

Responsible teachers

Take the register with context.

Mark the assigned school register, review exceptions and record a reason for corrections.

Reporting leads

Use a figure you can explain.

Select the reporting basis and check attendance completeness before it becomes part of a report edition.

Understanding the attendance figure

How do school registers become a report summary?

See how calendar sessions, missing marks and the selected reporting basis shape the result.

Can we take morning and afternoon registration separately?

Yes. A cohort calendar can use one daily session or separate AM and PM sessions. It also records school weekdays, coverage dates, closures, extra school dates and the relevant timezone.

What happens when a pupil has not been marked?

An unmarked pupil remains incomplete. An expected registration slot with no captured register is also flagged as missing, giving staff a clear exception to resolve.

Can the academic report use lesson attendance instead?

Yes. The reporting cycle selects school registration, lesson/session attendance or omission. Lesson attendance uses the cycle’s selected course links; lesson totals are not converted into school days.

How are excused sessions and private notes handled?

The chosen excused rule determines whether an excused session counts as absence or is excluded from the denominator. Private operational notes stay outside reporting summaries, and issued report editions retain their own attendance snapshot.
