Copy, withdraw or archive a lesson

Who can use this: Teachers and staff with access to the course.

Before you start

Check whether you need a new draft, a temporary withdrawal from students or a retained read-only lesson.

Copy, withdraw or archive a lesson

  1. Open the lesson management controls. Use copy to create a new draft and select whether private planning should be included.
  2. Review the copy’s content and links before publishing. Cross-course copies need their assessment links reviewed and added again.
  3. Use withdrawal to remove current student availability or archive to retain a read-only lesson. Delete only an unused draft when that action is available.

What happens next

Lesson lifecycle actions preserve the distinction between new work, current publication and retained history.

Troubleshooting

A copy does not carry student progress, availability dates or timetable links. Withdrawal does not erase content already retained in completed-course archives. Discarding a working draft is separate from withdrawing the published lesson.
