Create and activate a grading scale
Who can use this: Staff administrators with reporting configuration authority in the relevant school or branch.
Before you start
Choose whether attainment uses numeric percentage bands or descriptive judgements.
Create and activate a grading scale
- Open Reporting definitions and create a grading scale draft.
- For a numeric scale, enter ordered minimum thresholds starting at zero and the corresponding attainment labels. For a descriptor scale, enter the permitted attainment descriptors.
- Save and review the draft, then activate it. Select the activated version in the applicable subject policy.
What happens next
The activated scale provides a stable version for report calculations and judgements.
Troubleshooting
An activated definition is immutable. Create a new revision for future changes rather than trying to edit an issued report’s original scale. Descriptor scales do not invent a percentage.
